A $75 dollar dinner for 5 is the jam. When it's delicious, fresh, and accompanied by great service it gets even better.
My friends and I went to Hong ngu for dinner before a concert at the Aragon. It's a very convenient short walk from the venue, and byob which was a priority for us! I hadn't heard of Hong Ngu before but I called and made a reservation. When I arrived it was pretty slow at 630 on a Saturday night but it picked up quickly with people getting take out and eating in like we did. We shared a few appetizers which were all very good. Homemade, flavorful sauces were enjoyed by all with the spring rolls in particular.
We all got our own entrees and everyone seemed happy. I specifically recommend the vermicelli dishes. The shrimp kabob was excellent.
And service! Service was outstanding. Lou, Hannah, and Blanco were all working to make sure our experience was a great one.
The chef was super communicative to make sure to accommodate dietary needs at the table. Good place to go if you have allergies and want to make sure they hear you and take care of you. -

I decided to give this place a try. We tried their stone bowl pho($14). I have never paid that much for a bowl of pho before but I willing to give it a try thinking it would be worth it. Yes the broth came out on a stone bowl and bowl kept the soup hot all the way until the end. However, the broth was okay and the amount ingredients they gave to put in the bowl was too little . My husband has to ask for more noodle.
While the staff was friendly but the service was too slow, maybe they were short staff that day. It took almost 20 minutes to get our orders. -

Wow...so good. The food is delicious ...we had the spring rolls...super fresh and the crab rangoon was totally crab and just a pinch of cream cheese...yum. the beef Pho [pronounced ffaa] was incredible...so fresh and enourmous...the prices are incredibly cheap. Try this place...its been open a year and definitely worth iy.
In terms of service, Lou is awesome ... very attentive, friendly, and helpful on ordering.
Elvir, the chef, is friendly and informative...his food is really, really good. -

I feel like the novelty of the stone bowl pho is what really drew and kept us in at Hong Ngu. It certainly worked for us and while I am all about new places opening up in Argyle to test the pho scene, this one was simply okay.
Firstly, I loved the interior as it felt like I was in an old school Vietnamese shop with the wall decor. You can look into the kitchen to see them stewing up the broth. One thing I noticed is that a majority of the staff members were not Vietnamese so I was curious as to how the meal was going to turn out.
My Stone Bowl Pho ($14) was honestly underwhelming. It was a small bowl that featured piping hot broth that stayed hot throughout the meal. This was probably my favorite part to be honest. Your job is then to throw in the noodles and raw meat into the bowl to have it infuse with the broth like any other bowl of pho. The pho was good but not $14 good just for the novelty of the stone bowl.
It's definitely a solid spot to try but there's definitely other outlets for your pho cravings in the area. -

We went there with out-of-town guests. The staff were very friendly, and the food was excellent, especially for about $14 per person.
